From Quantum Chips to Quantum-AI Data Centers: Our Talk at SEMICON Taiwan 2026
Why scaling quantum computing up, and then out, runs through chip fabrication, advanced packaging and the data center.

Roger Luo on stage at TaiNEX in Taipei.
On September 1, our cofounder and CEO, Dr. Jie (Roger) Luo, spoke at the Quantum Taiwan Forum at SEMICON Taiwan 2026 in Taipei. His talk was titled “From Quantum Chips to Quantum-AI Data Centers: Building Next-generation Supercomputing with Hybrid Quantum Supercomputers at Scale.”
Roger made the case that quantum computing will scale the way every computing platform before it did: up, then out. Scaling up a QPU module takes foundry-grade fabrication and advanced packaging. As modules grow toward thousands of qubits, cryogenic input and output becomes the bottleneck for a single cryogenic system.
Scaling out means many cryogenic systems, interconnected and run by a cluster of quantum control electronics inside an AI supercomputing facility, where the QPU, the GPU and the CPU work as one system, tightly coupled over NVIDIA NVQLink. That, he said, is an engineering and manufacturing problem, not only a physics one. In his analysis, six of the seven layers of the quantum supply chain are open, and they map onto capabilities the computing industry already has: semiconductor fabrication, advanced packaging, electronics and precision manufacturing, and the data center.
Thank you to Prof. Ching-Ray Chang, Joann Chu and the Taiwan Quantum Computer and Information Technology Association (TAQCIT) for the invitation and for hosting the forum, and to Jane Lanhee Lee of QuantumJane for her questions.
