From Hardware to Algorithms: Our Keynote at Asia University’s Quantum AI Symposium
How quantum hardware platforms differ, and why near-term algorithms should be designed around a specific platform.
Our cofounder and CEO, Dr. Jie (Roger) Luo, gave a keynote at the International Symposium on Quantum AI and the Future of Life, held on June 29, 2026, at Asia University in Taichung, Taiwan.
His talk, “From Hardware to Algorithms: Quantum Platforms for Near-Term Scientific and Engineering Impact,” compared the leading hardware platforms, including superconducting circuits, trapped ions and neutral atoms. Each platform’s connectivity, native gates, gate speed, coherence and noise, mid-circuit measurement and feedforward control shape the algorithms that could show an advantage in the near term. Roger made the case for designing algorithms around a specific platform’s capabilities rather than treating the hardware as a black box.
Earlier that day, Roger joined the panel “Infrastructure Readiness of Quantum Computing,” moderated by Prof. Kang L. Wang of UCLA, with Dr. ChiiDong Chen of Academia Sinica and Dr. Subodh Kulkarni of Rigetti Computing. Thank you to President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai and Prof. Kuan-Tsae Huang for the invitation.
